It'd be great to check it out if you do make it but don't rush the install on our account :!:

Better to do it once and properly 8)

Pissed off number #1: Stupid bloody Audigy 2 NX! I have dumped this card. It WILL NOT WORK with centrafuse for sleep mode if it loses power. I tested out a Zalman ZM-RSSC
http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/vie ... 2&code=023

GREAT! It works! this usb pwered card seems to have similar, if not better audio, it's cheaper (except I've wasted the money on the soundblaster audigy already) and I don't need stupid circuits to keep the card alive when the system is shut down. It also appears to bypass the windows mixer when using digital output mode, I have to do more testing on this.

Pissed off number #2: The Carnetix P5V cannot handle 12v trigger!

I've tried 2 different units, the Q1 component keeps getting fried! I have to switch back to a 5v trigger. But I'm not happy as the item states (in the advertising) that the trigger is 5v to 12v. This is wrong. I've only got it working on a 5v trigger.

Pissed off #3: The G4 sleeps fine from OS or Software, but it ignores the hardware (acc) trigger. When you turn the car off, the os just keeps running. so in the end the G4 kills power and you need to reboot afterwards. The Infill support is non-existant. I've explained the problem and all I wanted from them was some doco on what processes are involved and how to trouble-shoot it. No response for a week now.
Useless.

OK, other than that, the car sounds great. Very happy with Patricks work.

The car is being re-assembled tomorrow.

On Saturday I went in to see if it would be ready, but a plague of bugs apparently got into the paint shed! My newly painted parts had trails of footprints and stuck insects all over them!

Apparently a filter fell off one of the fan intakes. So they had to re-paint most of the parts. Anyway, hopefully they will be installed today and ready to rumble!

CANNOT WAIT!

Will post photos when I get it...

I think the battery is a D34? Why?

Still waiting on the parts back from the paint shed. He's expecting them today (again! :( )

The seats have been mainly re-installed, the centre console is back in. He's just been tuning the system and there's still a couple of rattles to work out.

A couple of photos because I'm really missing my car, 4 weeks is a long time to not have your new wheels.

Here's some shots from the completed boot. Not great lighting, but you get the idea. The Cap is beautifully positioned to show off with the ski-hole open, and you can see the speaker vent on the top of the centre of the parcel shelf.

He's done 2 panels to slip in the boot, the one pictured has the embossed RX-8 logo for showing, there's a second day-to-day carpetted one as well.

Ok, the a-pillars are done with the new tweater mounts, the imaging is great, they are slightly angled down and firing directly across, this was the best position to take the edge off the tweeters, they are a little bright, but they also bounce off the dash and windscreen to really open the stage, works really well, there is no centre speaker, but the centre image is beautifully preserved and far in front above the bonnet.

I posted pics earlier to show how the old tweeter pods in the door window trim were filled and refinished.

And there are two items to check out here, the iPhone holder, that was about the only angle/height we could put it, we managed to keep it out of the way of the gear stick.

This is probably my least favourite part, the rest is all cool, this is done well, but isn't as slick as I would have liked it. But it is functional.

We also decided to mount the punch-bass and sub volume controls in the ashtray flip-up! Cool way to hide them.

yes, we wrapped my iPhone in fibreglass and then built the holder into the console.

I am thinking I need to redo this, it needs to be much lower. I am convinced there is enough space for it.

All the work is being done by Patrick at Super Audio in Phillip, ACT.

May I ask what plastic material do you use for the iPod area. It looks so stock. I also like the idea of the LCD screen relocating, but does the bright sunshine affect reading of it???

The iPhone holder was custom fibreglass. We moulded the unit, then encased a usb-iPhone cable in the base (filed down the clips so I could pull it out again) and then he sanded it and texture painted it to match the stock interior.

I AM enjoying it, it ROCKS. I love the sound, Pat did a great job with the imaging. Turning it right up HURTS MY EARS! :)

We've got the rest of the stuff repainted and the console redone (had to drop the iPhone holder lower). It's all getting installed and finished off on Thursday hopefully.
