I have been playing with my intake length lately. I lengthened it slightly to get the filter to sit in a spot where it gets good fresh air and not too cramped.

This lengthening caused slower throttle response and bogging so I modified the intake by moving the MAF closer to the intake and now it sits close to the bonnet rail. That is the most I can do with the stock harness.

The response has improved greatly and better low end torque.

last night I was trying to go to full boost at a low RPM in 5th gear and it still bogs and when I got to a high RPM there was a loud bang from the exhaust. Since then, I have learnt that this is normal in FI cars and the car needs to be in the correct gear when accelerating.

Drive to work this morning was great and I will leave things as they are for now.

More experimentation.

Installed a one way check valve to the jet air line and re plumbed it to the intake as per the stock configuration. My set up had it hooked up to the vacuum lines.

In a boosted car the valve is recommended as the LIM is under pressure and it is a source of potential boost leak. Car seems to run fine during the initial run today however, I did not take it to WOT as a precaution.

Engine was getting pressurised and oil leaking from the supercharger. The above method did not work so I re routed the lines back to original configuration and added the check valve to the jet valve.

All good after subsequent run. It feels more powerful and get to boost quicker and the boost stays high, previously I would start loosing boost on a sustained run as it was escaping from the jet air port

Another long drive yesterday and the vacuum at idle and decel has improved and no sign of any oil leak from the supercharger. The improved vacuum is helping the whole system operate better.

Cleaned spark plugs and also noticed trailing spark plug seat was coated in carbon so I cleaned this as well car runs great now.

Also added another one way check valve to the vacuum line that goes to the fuel tank eliminating another source of boost/vacuum leak. Pulls harder now. Look forward to fixing the crank seal oil leak on the 19th and then getting a retune done.

The next project is to clean the intercooler as it has had a lot of oil go through it early on. This has been now resolved by the addition of the catchcan and vacuum pipe reconfiguration.

I will also investigate the possibility of laying the intercooler flat on the undertray. If it fits I will try this option and possibly shorten plumbing for better response.

I changed some hoses and clamps on the intercooler pipe and took me days to get everything right as I was getting boost and vacuum leaks.

I upgraded to T bolts where possible however, the clamps are quite wide and it does not work when the joint is close to a bend. So when I reverted to a worm clamp the boost leak disappeared.

The boost gauge now spikes past 10psi (hits 12psi) and vacuum goes past 20 on decel. This is probably due to the addition of the check valve on the jet air line.

Car feels more powerful even with the retarded timing.

I am now considering discarding the HKS piggy back and going with Mazdaedit.

Give it a go. Keep the his for a few months after you get your tune right as a fall back.

So you saying I can keep the HKS and run the Mazdaedit at the same time? Brettus, recommended that I go back to stock and start from scratch.

He will be doing the flash tune for me after I provide the logs with Tacktrix logger. Jason is running his supercharged using Brettus and he is really happy after trying other systems.

I think zoom means just keep the HKS in case it doesn't work out with Mazdaedit.

I am considering the Mazdaedit myself, after porting/building my engine im getting a lean out around 7k, looked at getting my PCM flashed by RacingBeat but think id rather go the Mazdaedit route.

Mazda edit has been improved a lot. I have never done any tuning however, with some help I believe it can be done.

Damn. Well, build it better and stronger.
Fellow Rotor fans gather now for our daily prayer.....

As I lay rubber down the street,
I pray for traction I can keep,
But if I spin and start to slide,
Please dear god protect my sweet ride.

Amen
