No, my mistake. It seems like these are the larger ones. The earlier ones produced by Choppy were smaller...there is one on my rear window so I will show you at the meet.

All good man :D
Btw I still need a helmet as last time I borrowed my mates and was a little small (my ears hurt for AMA week after)
Any reccomendations?
You can pay a wider range of prices depending on quality. They can start for as little as $200-300 hundred dollars and go up to thousands. Mine is a large full face 'Bell GT5 Sport SA05' helmet, a good quality helmet. If you have the time, shop around.

Do you know what standards it has to comply with? If it was for a bike I would get the most expensive/best one, but since it's a car, I just want something that will allow me to race without spending too much money :) the way I see it, if the crash is that bad that my airbags don't support me, the helmet wont do much to stop brain damage / hemorrhaging
And I don't plan to wear a full suit with HANS

I would assume if its a legitimate ADR standard it would be fine. I'll be using my shoei i use for my bike.

I use my moto-x helmet. It wasn't too expensive, and the open face/extended "chin" feels better in the car.

Requirements are contained in the regulations for the AASA (of CAMS regulations for a CAMS event). It is just compliance with AS1698 for this up coming AASA event - http://australianautosportalliance.com/ ... ations.pdf.

2.11 Safety Requirements for Drivers
--(a) Approved non-flammable clothing and footwear, with clothing extending from
ankles to neck and wrists;
--(b) Safety helmet - being those with the following markings:
----i. AS1698 Australian Standard
--(c) Helmet with full face visor, or helmet with goggles for open vehicles;
--(d) Fuel restricted to commercial fuel, except for historic vehicles, which may
use alcohol fuels in compliance with Supplementary Regulations;
--(e) External blue triangles (15cm sides) indicating location of battery, or isolation
switch.

can we buy those blue triangles at lakeside on the day ? price ? where to buy if not at lakeside ?

The blue triangle stickers are on eBay, I seen them in a kit that has the fire system activator sticker with it, although I doubt anyone here has the external trigger fire extinguishing system installed!

Be pretty cool tho lol

I agree with Driffill, compliance with all the requirements is not strictly enforced for an event at this level.

For instance, none of us had the triangles when we attended the Time Attack event at Lakeside in March 2012. This is not to say they are not a good idea, and if you use your imagination and some paint you could make some magnetic triangles yourself (out of material similar to which they make L plates out of for example). :wink:.

See my OP for the 'Second Track Day at Lakeside' thread. Also see the minimum equipment list on the Time Attack site: http://www.timeattack.com.au/content/view/23/125/

Those requirements are for CAMS related events. Our track day is not a race, it is a sprint event where each driver aims to record the fastest possible lap time during the day. A slower driver yields to a faster driver so as not to impede.

Long pants, long sleeve shirts, enclosed shoes and helmet is all that is required. I use an open face helmet similar to ones ahailable for hire at the track.

I may not be able to make it this Saturday.... it's ok..don't be sad. The reason for my absence is that I have a breakfast date with a cute Asian girl down the coast. I thought about bringing her along, but not sure if a bunch of blokes standing around their 8's will be a good first impression.. No offence.. Not an easy choice to make as I have been super keen for this weekend for months....but...but.... she is really cute..& its been awhile.

Sorry to hear you cannot make it. Good luck with the girl.

Hope we get a few last minute additions to add to the numbers.

Dude,

No offence, but the bottom one is alot more enticing and good looking. Or maybe I'm just weird for admitting that a car is a bigger turn on than a female (who I'm quite sure is very nice)

Hence why I'm still single I guess :lol:
