I want more what SKC has, a twin screw. Pettit is looking good. It's a twin screw with a water/air intercooler all in a compact setup with very short air flow path and minimal bends. The recharge kit is awesome, but it's centrifugal, I want a fixed displacement charger rather than a rising rate. That's just me tho :p

I have been reading on the .com forums about it this morning, but the pettit us site isn't responsive to me for some reason (did they go down?) but on the uk site I don't see a mention of the s2

Great write up! i found the exact sme problem when i drove one!!
im having this argument myself... turbo or s/c.. the pettit is looking tempting because of the simplicity of it..
decisions decisions....

If you want turbo than I believe Mazfix has the best turbo kit available. It has been proven and they have installed many kits over the years. If the Hymee kit was not available I would have gone with the Mazfix option.

Ha ha, yea I just got off the phone to mazfix.. They are very helpful and put up with my (somewhat) silly questions.. I will definately be putting my hard earned towards this kit.. I was worried that being in adelaide will make it hard.. But they offered to flash tune my ECU if i sent it to them... they described it as "this is how an rx8 should have been brought from factory" because i was worried about rebuilding the engine etc etc.. I just want that extra "kick" between corners which the rx8 lacks... it stops, turns and puts a grin on my face whenever i plant my foot... Just not in a straight line :(
I was quoted a rough 10k for the kit.. not bad considering the R&D that has gone into the kit...

P.s It helps having a friend that works as a mechanic at the local mazda dealer ;) so labour will be cheap to get the kit installed haha

Funny how things haven't changed in 7 years!

This is a drive review posted by another member on the 2005 Mazda 3 MPS vs his Rx8, where I have done mine on a 2010 Mazda 3 MPS against a Rx8 GT.

Interestingly, I pretty much matched him point for point... despite Mazda toning down power in 1st and 2nd.

Great article. In summary - you need a towball and trailer for your 8 and you will have a perfect car.

I havent taken the MPS for a spin although I was tossing up between that and the 8 when I was shopping. So glad I made the right choice.
Series II RX-8 - completely factory.... will get around to changing that soon!
