Soz guys.

I will have to sit this one out.

Until I can ascertain if my cooling system is indeed operating within normal parameters, I don't think I'd want to risk extended temperatures above 105 deg for fear of doing irreparable damage to the engine :P

I will be booking her in for a thorough once over at the earliest opportunity with a rotary mechanic.

regards
C

Looks like I'm going :D

Too bad about the cooling system Calvin. Your car hasn't done that many kms.

I'll go for a spin in a minute and let you know what temp I get up to. :D
I'm pretty sure mine regularly goes over 100C.

Just cracked 102C doing a mellow Esplanade cruise. Temp gauge on dash didn't move. :?

102 is easy on days like these.... Even if mellow.

And in the evening too.

Can you just make a note of coolant temp on your S2 during the cruise for us please. Would be interesting to see if max temps are comparable. I hit max of 108 while fanning this morning, at 1030 ish. 37 deg day...

No worries, I'll play around with Torque and see if I can get it to record it for me. :D

EDIT:I should be able to log & graph it without an issue.

I'm in. :)

Unfortunately, someone put a tow-ball into my front bumper last friday.
Still though, keen to tag along.

As a matter of fact, I did take her out :P

Initially only wanted to do the Norton loop, but somehow ended up doing the lobethal loop

Ambient temp 33 deg @ 10 am on the way in... 36 deg on the way back via the free way 30 mins later

Norton leg..max temp 104. no block
Norton to lobethal leg max 106 no block, plenty of air flow. temp, hovered mostly at 95, climbing to 102+ when going up hill in low gears @ high rev

Lobethal to Handorf : stable 94 all the way , not pushing just cruising

Handorf via freeway back to Adelaide 83 to 79 stable, not pushing just cruising

End of free way to home, 15 mins in 36 deg... temp climbed to 99 just as I cruised into the driveway..quite a bit of traffic.

but the freaky thing was... it kept climbing to 102 despite the fans going and car not moving ... weird..
which is exactly the same as what happened yesterday...came back from drive, parked in driveway, idling..and temps continued to climb in the heat.

This car defo does not like bumper to bumper traffic and hot days...

Pity you didn't join us Calvin. I think the temps you are experiencing are "normal for S2's" I have a feeling that the reading for the ECU is taken from a different point than the S1's. Unfortunately I didn't log temps properly but I was monitoring them.
I peaked to 107C on spirited sections with AC on. With the AC off it between around the 90C-100C mark.

The route got changed last minute. Detoured from Greenhill to Deviation rd, Lobethal road & Norton Summit.

It was a good cruise and a good chance to put some faces to names. A little too warm out, but that just made that first beer more enjoyable :D

Cheers to everyone that braved the heat to make it. Anyone got some pics to post?
