My first RX8, but second wankel

Post by walou12 » Thu Jun 16, 2016 2:10 am

Hi
New to me is a 60k S2 lux with a few GT bits and other tasty odds and sods compliments of the previous one and only owner. I had to ditch the carbon bonnet and rip off the window tint to make the RWC, but man this car is in top notch condition and what a great fun drive.
It's pretty much a weekend and weeknight toy, ( I push bike to work each day),. I had a rx4 for a short time many years ago, always wanted to get a rotary again some day, and I'm loving this 8. loaded the CD stacker with some Pink Floyd and did a few runs of the King lake road late last night. entrancing.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the forum, I've learned heaps and it was great heading into this ownership with eyes wide open due to all the great content.

Welcome to the club :)

Great to hear you're already enjoying the car.
Are you planning on putting the bonnet back on at any stage? Be sure to keep your eyes open for the Melbourne meet ups, I don't think we have had one for a few months now, so there could be one pop up at any moment, we also have the RX8club.com.au nationals event on in November at Winton raceway.

Welcome and nice buy. If you enjoy a few tunes I'll have to show you my set up.

Thanks Driffill, I've just paid the $50 deposit to lock in a spot at Winton, woo hoo. As for the carbon bonnet, I'm weary of attracting undue attention from the law, I had enough of that over the years with motorbikes, so I might try to sell the bonnet to help pay for tyres for November.

yes Bob, the sound system definitely needs some tweaking, I'll hoping that new front speakers will do it for me.

What did you get? So you know you can actually fit a good 3 way component set in the original locations.

3 way in the doors? I'll start researching. Any recommendations?

Hertz ESK 163.5 awesome sound. No rears all run from stock head unit through Audison Bit ten to an Alpine PDX V9 5 channel amp. Bass duties is by a single 10 inch Alpine Type R sub.

Bent my darling RX8 last weekend. It all happened so slowly, nice drift thru the corner, then sliding sideways, leaving tar and then getting airborne after hitting a rock side on.

If it was comp insured  it would be a write off , but once I stop procrastinating and hand over the considerable $$$ she will be good as new.
