Considering I posted this two months ago, and got a single extra entrant...I'm not holding my breath. People have had a year to get their act together, but thats obviously not enough time

How much are you short of Nathan? I met with Luke (Mazda Australia) at the Run for the Kids 2 weeks ago, I mentioned about our Nats this year and he said contact him if we need Mazda's involvement again this time. Maybe financially they can help (who knows!)?

Not by the amount we are short by...we need 13 more people to fully pay and then we would just scrape us by

That means you're short by at least 13 x $350 = $4,550... hmmm... don't think it'll fly with Mazda Australia LOL

I missed last year & have been kicking myself ever since. I am so looking forward to this.
Come on everyone, a whole day on the track to ourselves. It cannot get much better than that.
Nathan, do you need full payment now?

Hey Paul, at this moment I'm more keen on people actually committing and getting deposits in. Full payments will help narrow the margin, but not by enough. Deposits mean people are keen enough to actually put some money on the line and say they'll be there...which doesn't seem to be the case :(

I'm really interested in doing this. I know august is a busy time for me being a full time uni student though.
I assume the actual track day would be the middle of those dates?

And what is the deal with insurance? I assume just don't crash is the general policy.

Cheers

Hey mate!

The actual "race" day is the 13th of August, with dinner that night. If you can only spare one day, thats the day to do it.

For insurance...you have zero. This includes someone running into you through no fault of yours. That said Wakefield is a very safe track, in my experience. We've had no near misses or anything at a Nationals I've attended, and even with Wakefield in general I've only had a near miss because they let some silly Evo's on the track driven by morons

Evos  (actually I quiet like them haha).

I'll find out how far into the semester it is today; look at taking a day or two off work and let you guys no.
I was talking to my uncle who built his own clubman and goes out on the track often, apparently you can get insuared. At $800 a day :-/. But he said the same as you, wakefield is probably one of the safest tracks in AUS.

Do you guys space the cars out or anything like that? How many 8s are usually on the track at once?

Thanks

We definitely take every precaution, cars will be grouped according to skills/times so that track newbies don't have to contend with 1m12s nutcases roaring up behind them

Depending on your experience and the total number of people we have, you could have as few at 4 other cars on the track with you :) So plenty of room. Its not a race day :)

Sounds good to me. I'm a complete newbe so that'd be helpful. I'm hugely interested.
