Hey guys,

Dont know if this is the right place for this but here goes.

I have always since new put 98RON fuel in my GT series 2, the other day i had no option but to run 95RON as the pump was out of order. Ever since my car has been ideling strange, back firing and when reving past 5,000rpmit sounds ANGRY.

Now when i say angry i mean, when you rev a piston engine to 8,000rpm . . . they sound angry, when you rev a rotor to 8k it sounds smooth any happy . . . well mine sounds angry and like a old FD on idle.

My fuel economy has also taken a dropin the last week or so, gone from 550kms a tank or more too 400kms a tank and i am driving the same if not easier.

Car has 45,000kms on it

Any advice, or help would be awesome as i am freaking out

Common fault, lies between steering wheel and the pedals

I would say its the crap fuel, get some octane boost into it, and 98 ASAP :)

I have on occasion had to use 95 RON fuel and have never had the sort of issue you are describing (thank god!) I reckon you have picked up a load of contaminated fuel. Where did you source it? Was it from a well used servo? In other words was it from a source that maybe had been sitting idle for a while?

Anyway, hope it turns out OK

Well the pump was working really slow and making really funny sounds . . . (maybe the last dregs in the tank)

It was a woolies fuel

Car appears to be running well now, have used that tank and topped up with 98 again :) whist the fuel economy isnt as good as it once was its back down to around 14L per 100kms which is far better than the 18L per 100 it was using last week :(

Thanks for all your input guys,

PS how do i reset my ECU? is that just unplug the positive terminal on the battery for a minute or so?

Keys in IGN and tap the brake pedal REALLY fast 20 times. The Oil Press guage will sweep to confirm.

Also, did 100kms exactly of highway KMs today since last post and filled up. 100kms = 18.11L .... thats on the highway . . . that isnt normal . . . going by this i will only get 350kms on the highway . . whats wrong with my car :(

should i contact my local dealer and book it in for them too inspect?
