Service Experiences and Costs

Post by timbo » Wed Apr 12, 2006 5:35 pm

Thought it might be helpful to kick these off in each State, so that people can post their experiences -- good and bad -- and also provide some guidance on the cost of servicing the 8 at various stages.

Please do not defame anyone. If you had a problem, just state the facts

I went to 4 dealers.

All have good experiences.

Here is the list:

City Mazda - most knowledge. Busy garage. People under stress = less smiling service. But they get work done and did it well.

Ringwood Mazda - slow but reliable. cheap. No rotary mechanics.

Garry Warren Smith - rotary expert on site. cool dealer and service dept. friendly service. get works done. can be expensive.

Berwick Mazda - cleanest garage in Victoria (newest that is all). Expensive. But it is ok.

Yes I did
But with a Renault van Traffic , they bent the skirting under neath they bent it on their hiost ,they didnt admitt

over filled gearbox oil so oil came out breather took ages to work out what was happening,It has dip stick you don't fill till dribbles out ,

Its all luck who you get ,if they or half these places are right up to date I doubt it

Bad experience with Garren Warren. They did not check my brake pads, and before next service due my brake pads were completely worn. Lucky i heard the sound otherwise... gg

Bought my car at City Mazda, used to get my CX7 Serviced there as well, no problems to date. Always wondered if they use microfiber clothes to wash the car lol

Just did the 80,000km at City Mazda - $570
Exceptionally friendly customer service staff.
Very busy - but still took their time to go over the car properly and do a good job.

Anyone done a 100k service and which service centre do you prefer?
Also, has anyone serviced their 8 somewhere other than Mazda, besides Promaz?

90 000 km service done. I had to change the oil the week earlier as my second oil cooler had developed a leak. Therefore the service only cost $95.00 at Grand Prix mazda in Aspley.

I just had my 100k service with Berwick.
Quick, no fuss. Had the courtesy Mazda2 for the day which made life easy.

Cost $415 including oil change, but not diff oil (I changed it at 95k) or cabin filter.

Gotta take my 8 back to fit my EBC brakes that I forgot to take with me the first time. It'll only be $50 for fitment.

I know the general topic has been covered a bit but I couldn't find anything specific to the 40k kms service...

My 8's currently at ~33k kms however according to the "next sevice date" sticker, 40k service is due in June so I'll be doing it this month some time.

Rang 2 dealers, one close to my home and one close to work - Brighton and City (south Melb)

Brighton was 495 and City was 485

When I asked about changing gearbox oil, Brighton said they'll check it out first before giving price. City said should cost "around $70 including the oil" - seems a bit cheap

What do you guys think about the prices above? I've read a couple of reviews about City Mazda and they sound "busy but reliable" so I'd rather go with them...

Both dealers will give hire cars as well

Just had my 110K service done at City Mazda (South Melbourne). Exceptionally friendly service. Free drop off and pick up from city and really friendly staff. :thumbright:

Was surprised that I was able to get a booking for next day. $220 for a complete oil change and minor service. Not looking forward to the next 120K service. Was quoted $1000.00 plus for it  . Guess sparkies are real expensive lol

whoa. that's half as much as mine.

Sparkies are a lot from Mazda, you can buy them at 1/4 their price and ask them to install them for you.
I bought 2 pairs ready for my next change.

Max Kirwan seems a bit cheaper than city and Essendon Mazda.
The staff is just ok friendly. Their place is pretty big.
