Just had my 120k service done at Gary Warren Smith in Ferntree Gully. Was a positive experience.

Supplied own spark plugs, total cost came out to be about $910.

When I dropped it off had a good chat with Brett at the desk, as he owned an RX-8 himself. As i was waiting for their drop off service, he moved my car into the garage and came in to tell me he thought my engine mounts were shot (i suspected this myself anyway), and that my clutch pedal needed adjusting (or possibly a clutch replacement) as the take up was somewhere near the floor. He did me a good deal of $550 fitted for the engine mounts and adjusted the clutch as part of the service.

Car was washed when i picked it up (I was a bit worried they might ruin my detailing, but it's full of swirls anyway, so no big deal), and they even put tyre shine on (probably Armour All crap, but it was a nice touch).

Overall, very happy with the experience.

60,000K service @ City Mazda
I got quoted $1,000 @ Essendon Mazda, Werribee Mazda, Garry and Warren Smith Mazda even if I supplied my own sparks.

I paid $570 supplied my own sparks, dropped in at 7:30AM got her back at 2:00PM.
Great service, washed and vacuum her which was a great bonus.

She sounds a bit better and more responsive.

Don't take your car to the poo jabs at essendon Mazda.

they've had my car for several days and accomplished nothing.
they wanted $1k for entire assembly that doesn't need replacing and refused order and fit the part I requested. (supplied them a part number ect)

The one thing they did do properly was not wash the car.

So off to rx8 specialties tomorrow. :)

No choice for me today. Speed the car at Ringwood Mazda for a warrenty repair on my locked front passenger wheel.

Not a happy camper after the brake seized at 80kph.

Happened Saturday. Internal failure of the caliper. Replacement coming from Japan as there are none in Stock in Australia

Never heard of anything like that before. Must have been a WTF moment
Hope it all gets fixed up OK

There is a bit about it on the net. Mainly the slide bolts seizing but this time it was the piston seized.

Has anyone got any recent service experiences to share at Ringwood Mazda or Penfold Mazda Burwood?

I'm hoping to service my RX-8 (i've gotta buy one first!) at either one of these dealers.

Seems like Ringwood Mazda hasn't got a rotary mechanic based on Taka's post in this thread dated Apr 2006..

Gary Warren Smith is penfolds right? If so then they had decent rep a while ago.

No. Gary Warren Smith is in Ferntree Gully. Penfold is in Burwood.

Ferntree Gully is a bit far for me, but it can be my last resort. Thanks
