Fresh Rebuild wont start

Post by baydogg » Fri Mar 21, 2014 12:40 pm

Hi All,

Just got my rx8 rebuilt. Put the engine in myself with a couple of friends (mechanics). Has spark, oil pressure, fuel pressure, petrol.

New leads but I Know old ones worked..so gonna try them tonight. New plugs have 2 sets. Coils are plugged in correct (have bosch ones with external ignitor), injectors are all right as well.

Battery is 475CCA and is flat. Doesn't hold charge so Ill get a new one tonight! And Chasing a starter motor for tonight aswell.

Anyone have any input please let me know. Been pulling my hair out all week.

PS: Located Geelong, VIC

Update: Got an Optima RedTop 34r 800cca battery. Put some oil in the spark plug holes and boom it started. Wouldn't idle and had a weird winding noise from the front. Wasn't a belt.

Today its on the back of a tow-truck back to Dalton motors in Geelong. "fingers crossed" its not too bad. something simple.

Was the winding noise the air pump that comes on during initial start up? It can stay on for 3 to 4 seconds...

a huge vac leak? Hopefully its something as easy as that.

Could be from any of the solenoids

On the phone to Daltons last night. Chris was saying it was an electrical fault. So he has an auto electrician coming out today. *Fingers crossed* that its done by end of the week. Been too long.
