RX8 2007 Nationals - Information

Post by Revolver » Wed Apr 11, 2007 12:02 pm

Choppy has kindly set this up to enable the dissemination of information concerning this year's Nationals at Winton on 5-7 October (track day 6 October).

I invite the organisers to post progress in here and for interested owners to raise any queries.

Please respect the admin's request not to link to external sites.

Ermm...does anyone have anything to contribute?

It's all gone a bit quiet and the date is fast approaching!
Is everything still ok?

No it's the Winton near Melbourne...

Winton Motor Raceway Using whereis.com it's 4hrs50mins from Canberra plus your travelling time from Sydney to Canberra which should be 2hrs30mins to 3hrs on average. Therefore, you're only looking at around 7hrs in total. :D
  • Enter Hume Hwy for the street name, Winton for the suburb or town and Victoria for the state when using whereis
That's half the distance of Qld so hopefully the old girl will be able to make it 8)

Winton is only about 110k over the Vic border.Jeez what kind of sports car enthusiasts are they breeding these days-Revolver and I drove to Phillip Island over a weekend just for lunch and a run....every second thread bleats "it's too far" whever something over 50k is mentioned. Can't see the point of owning a "sports" car if you don't want to drive it anywhere...

Well said Macca.

For last years Nats i drove from melbourne to Sydney on Friday night, chased Revolver down the M5 from Sydney to Goulburn on Sunday morning, spent Monday clocking up the k's around the track then drove back to melbourne on Tuesday.

And I had so much fun I would do it all again this year as well if I had to.

Don' worry about how long it takes to get there. Think about how much fun you will have when you are there. Then you will be grinning all the way back home as well.

OK sorry about the delay in all this but I have been under the pump with work for the last few months.

Details are as follows:

Accomodation will be at the Trekkers Rest in Benalla. They offer 3 styles of room:

"Dorm Style"

"Apartment Style"

We will be having continental breakfast on the Saturday at Trekkers Rest as well as a nice big Roast on the Saturday night.

Friday night we will be eating at one of the local pubs, Saturday lunch will be at the track and Sunday morning we will be eating at one of the local breakfast eateries.

Mazda are providing us a nice big marquee with RX-8 and rotary related videos. They are also providing someone from their marketing division as well as at least 1 rotary technician.

The cost for track participants at this stage will be $450 and includes track hire, shirt, cap, lanyard, track only license plates for their car and food/accomodation detailed for non-track participants.

Cost for non-track participants at this stage will be $150 includes accomodation and food (Friday Dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner and Sunday breakfast).

All costings are based on 35 track particiapnts and 5 non-track participants, which we believe is very conservative. Based on this it is expected that the final price will be less than this. There are discounts for kids under 15 (around 10-20%).

I am going to start a new thread to start the actual list. Please keep discussion about the event here so we can have a clear concise list in the other thread.

Cheers

Andrew

I'm definitely interested in going, probably on my own. Not sure on exact details from my end yet, but show me where to sign and commit and I'll do it most likely :P

Hey,

A newbie (as you can tell my numerous posts :p) who mostly comes here for reading...just was wondering, prob a stupid question, but is the track option open to anyone? Do i need to have done a driving course or have a special license or something? dunno abt this yr, a bit short on dough atm but would def b interesting in seeing wat the car, and me, are capable of.

cheers.
