Nationals-Final Preparations.

Post by MACCAA » Wed Jun 13, 2012 3:18 pm

Just a few things before you leave home.
Check oil,water,brake fluid levels.
Bring a little extra oil.
If the brake fluid hasn't been changed inthe last 12 months or so,it'd be a good idea to get it done.
Tyre pressures:
Normal road tyres -around 40lb[2.6 bar approx]COLD to start, and adjust on the day.
Semis:Most work best at around 30-32lb HOT.
Start at 34 COLD and drop them after your first session .
Check wheel nuts for tightness-ESPECIALLY if they've been undone recently.
Don't be late-We run to a tight schedule, and I'm not known for waiting for people to get their act together........
See you Saturday.
Cheers
Len

Do the cars have to be totally empty of gear? Down to wallets, sunnies etc?

Cheers

You do not want things rolling around in the car while you are taking corners at speed as this could be dangererous or distract you from your driving.

While at the track you will soon develop a sense of direction after several laps and you will be looking up and ahead and your mind will be focussed on how to position yourself on the track so you can negotiate the upcomming corner and what impact that will have on the next and the next.

Driving fast at the track is all in the mind as you have to think several corners ahead and you do not want unnecessary distractions to bring you mind back into your car.

Thanks skc, I understand that. But I am also thinking of security of wallet / phone etc, they cannot be placed in the glovebox? The outline suggests no, nothing (apart from fire extinghuisher).

You can give these valuables to someone you know or wrap it up with some rags and place it in the rear console. Just make sure it is packed tight with lots of rags so it does not move around. I am not sure if this will be approved by the scrutineers?
