Yeah they are a terrible looking wheel aren't they John. Just hideous!
Yeah I imported them Prime. Any idea if the TPMS sensors are any good to me? Are they worth anything to sell?

After all that effort you will have to come on the next cruise viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7541 to show them off

Just when you thought this thread was dead....

Well I have an update. As you are aware I bought a set of GT (R3) wheels. However a few weeks ago I finally got around to getting tyres for them and fitting them up. Thats when the problem started.

When I went to get the tyres fitted, the first fitter couldn't get 2 of the tyres on (due to a stiff sidewall) as he didn't have the right equipment. So I went to another fitter and when I came back I get the bad news. One of the wheels took a heap of weight to balance and another one they couldn't balance at all. So basically I am left with a set of wheels that are near enough to useless to me.

I am currently trying to come to an arrangement with the seller. So if anyone wants to sell GT their wheels please let me know.

Naddis01, this a problem that can be struck with low profile tyres. In fact I found my local Buearepairs dealer had much trouble fitting a standard RE050A 18" tyre to one of my standard Luxury rims for the same reason. I was in the back helping them at the time, and it took 15 mins to get the single tyre on. Yes, the stiffness of some low profile tyre walls makes this difficult, but I also think it is the quality and condition of the tyre fitting machines at some dealers.

As to the balancing of the wheels, maybe they are slightly buckled. Try a reputable allow wheel repair place to see if that helps.

Try not to give up too easily.

They ended up getting the tyres on. Apparently One of the tyres, on the wheel that they couldn't balance, popped of the inner bead twice when they were trying to get the outer bead on. That was with Bridgestone Re001 in 245/35/19.

However I don't think the problem is the tyres. The 2 wheels appears to be have been repaired previously. The other 2 wheels are great and balanced up well. That was with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 in 225/40/19 for the front.

The other annoying bit is I bought tyres off the net as the locals here are rip offs. So I am out of pocket there as well. If I was getting the tyres locally I don't think I would have had to buy them.

Anyway, I bought the wheels from a reputable business (which I am not going to name st this stage) and I am hopeful of coming to an agreement with them. It is just hard because they are not local.

That is a bummer mate. One would think you have a reasonable case in law for an exchange /refund on the rims. Heck, they are not even fit for their intended purpose.
