I don't think it is going to come to that. The seller is trying to fix the situation. I found another wheel last night so that is a start. Hopefully we can do something with it. Just need another now.

Yes, that was my other thought...if two rims are okay, is it worth them / you sourcing two others.

Lets us know how you go.

Not trying to be a smart ass and sayin I know more than tire shops, BUT so you know, tires are not balanced from factory, neither are rims (altho rims are a lot better) hence why you need to balance the whole thing as a set ;)
1st, if they can't balance it they arent trying hard enough.. If it doesn't balance like that, you rotate the tire on the wheel and try again..
Problem is, shops charge what, 50 to fit and balance 4 tires?
This then becomes too expensive and they say they can't do it, because in reality they can't as it's a waste of money for them
Make sure they didn't buckle your rims when fitting tires tho ;)
Take it to a better shop. We had this issue at work a few weeks ago with one of the company vehicles. We took it to a better shop who actually gave a rats and after a few fittings they balanced with a tiny weight ;)

I think you missed the point that the 2 problem rims have evidence of repair. If the previous owner has had an accident, it's quite possible that the rims have been buckled and ten repaired. You will NEVER get a buckled rim straight.

Man I didnt know that Gts were so rare. I know that RX 8s in general are rarly seen (we are the only rx8 owners in the riverland never seen another) but I might go and buy some lock nuts for my wheels after this thread.!!!!!!!!!

Hi zoom, I'm staying in on Bourke st :) love the city, the architecture and the liveliness here, reminds me of places I miss. I didn't think of announcing my self at all. Tomorow we will be going to st kilda and chapel st to see some shops, if the weather holds like it did during the day today. Monday we will go for a little more of a walk around, then plane home :)

FINALLY! I ended up coming to a resolution with the seller (he sourced another wheel) and now have the GT wheels fitted to the car.

I got quoted $1550 for a full size spare with tyre for my GT from Mazda in Darwin. Dont know if this helps.
Fellow Rotor fans gather now for our daily prayer.....

As I lay rubber down the street,
I pray for traction I can keep,
But if I spin and start to slide,
Please dear god protect my sweet ride.

Amen

Apologies for waking up a dead thread.

Are these GT rims still highly sought after? I have a 19" set that has been sitting in my garage for about 2 years...
